Some new freinds invited me off shore all night long June 25th. Weather was perfect, 5 to 10 knots and diminishing til daybreak. They said,”small sizes but good numbers.” I got my best Mangrove and Lane and first Vermillion and Yellow Tail ever. I’m hooked on summer time all nighters!
One thing about evening fishing, little by little, people start to disappear as dark comes on and the bite picks up…usually. Daybreak tides are my fav. however, more and more people begin to show up as day comes on. Last night was a calm, cool, pre-frontal trip.
Following the crabs and mullet up.
Snook and Redfish have been deep in the mangroves during these high tides. Skipping a jig under the branches and to the roots has been the difference in catching and fishing.
Gators are in the mix from HW 41 out to Beercan Is. and Cockroach flat’s on fire.
All day rain but, a good turn out. Ted, Brian and Steve got 1st and 2nd place. Biggest fish weighed in at 5.66 lb. Steve, Tanner and Brian took 3rd place.
2nd day lookin for a legal keeper and we found this one in a foot and half of water on the open flat. Reds are every where out there, too. Get after it.
From the river mouths to the spoil islands, I’ve been finding good size trout with big ladyfish. Plugs are working around the islands and 3/8 oz. Jigs in the deep water, when the fronts come through.
